My most memorable athletic
accomplishment. Spring of 1998, The Little Miami Triathlon in
Morrow, Ohio. I'm on the left with my teammate after taking
2nd place over-all in the female division. Together, we both canoed 6 mi., ran 6 mi. and biked
19 mi.
Since finishing 2nd in the
Little Miami Triathlon in 1998, I
competed in the SSYMCA triathlon, in Clifton Park, NY in 2000 and 2001 placing 2nd and 3rd in my age
group respectively. I participated in many running races, 5k - 1/2
marathon, more to challenge my own limits than to compete against others. Currently, my training
consists of weight training, cycling, kickboxing, jogging and step
aerobics.
I started weight training
and running in high school in 1982. When I married my husband in
1990, our focus was on cycling. We joined a local weekend cycling group,
participated in organized rides 20-135 miles long and rode up to 40 miles some
weekdays after work. Fitness has always been in my
life, but hasn't always been consistent. In 1995, after having my second
child, I made a lifestyle change, with the support of my husband, to stay fit and stop having to "get
back into shape again". It's so much easier to maintain at least some
level of fitness than to start from the beginning again and again.
Becoming a personal trainer allows me to share with others what I
learned and help them make fitness part of their lifestyle.
I am happily married and a
mother of 2 great kids. We are an outdoor activity oriented family.
Together, we enjoy hiking, biking, roller blading, skiing, canoeing, fishing and
camping.
